Andre Lotterer took First Victory in this season】


36 VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S Andre Lotterer

Although Andre Lotterer went into the  final in 2nd place from the qualifying race, #36 VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S Andre Lotterer took his first victory of the season.

On May 27th, Super Formula Round 2 final race was held at Okayama international circuit. The sky was covered by clouds at the final race, the air temperatures were around 23°C and track temperatures 31°C. Final race was held under dry conditions. 19 machines showed up in this race and the race was contested by 30 laps (111.09Km). The final race was a sprint race, because there is no tires change, no refueling, no pit-in during this race.

At the Start, #19 Yuhi Sekiguchi did not get a strong start from pole position, dropping back to 2nd. Also #36 Andre Lotterer rocketed off the start from the 2nd position on the grid and he took the 1st place. Just after the start, #15 Pierre Gasly had damaged his left front wing and came to pit in. However, Gasly came back to race after change the nose unit. This comeback maybe lead to tomorrow race…

#36 Andre Lotterer fantastically controlled the race at Okayama international circuit where it`s difficult to overtake. And finally #36 won this race.


#19 ITOCHU ENEX TEAM IMPUL Yuhi Sekiguchi

#19 Yuhi Sekiguchi strong chased #36, but finished the race in 2nd place. Rookie driver #3 Nick Cassidy stand as 3rd podium.

Final result is reflecting the start and there was no significant change. The fastest lap in this race recorded was set by #7 Felix Rosenqvist (1` 15’232) at lap 27.


#3 KONDO RACING Nick Cassidy

The promising racers #18 Kamui Kobayashi was 4th place and #37 Kazuki Nakajima was 9th place.

The knock-out qualifying session for Sunday’s race will take place from 9:20 am at Okayama international circuit. The Round3 final is 51 laps start from 14:25.
