CarGuy Super Car Race – Japan’s Latest Motorsports Series From The People Who Brought You Snow Drifting in a F40 – Part 1

What do you do when you have a fleet of several supercars, some track cars, and a whole lot of cash laying around? Well you start your own race series of course, which is exactly what the CarGuy group have done.

Well, sort of. The Super Car Race Series has been around since 2014 but only collaborated with the CarGuy group in 2017 thus creating the CarGuy Super Car Race series. It had its inaugural race on April 15-16 at Fuji Speedway.
The CarGuy SCR is “a race event organized with regulation to maximize the potential of cars without performance adjustments”, said Hironori Takeuchi, CEO of SCR. Performance adjustments are a common feature in racing such as with Super GT, coincidentally Takeuchi used to compete in Super GT. SCR is completely backed by JAF (Japan’s version of the FIA) and cars other than Formulas can
compete. As such, SCR offers a diverse grid from private circuit cars, road cars, and tuned cars. Now for some background. If you haven’t heard of the CarGuy group, don’t worry. They’re a new group in Japan having also started around 2014. You may have heard about the guy behind the group though, Takeshi Kimura, or at least the stuff he’s gotten up to over the years.

He’s the chap who famously took his F40 camping, drifted up a ski slope in that Red Bull video, and more recently drove his Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo around a driving school test

course. Basically, any idea that comes into his mind he will very likely do in real life.
