One week left until the Spanish Grand Prix. But we still cannot stop thinking about the Russian Grand Prix. The first victory for Valtteri Bottas, who has been harshly criticized. Many people thought that the Finn driver would not live up to his teammate Lewis Hamilton. But Bottas made a great race, managed to stop Vettel and climb to the top of the podium.
Across the garage, we found Hamilton. In four races the English driver has only won one, the Chinese Grand Prix. Vettel is now 13 points ahead in the drivers' championship. Hamilton started the World Championship being the favorite to win it, but in just four races Vettel is confirmed as a candidate to become world champion.
The Ferrari is neither the best car of all teams, nor the fastest. But it is very close to the Mercedes which is the fastest. But if there is something in which the Ferrari is better, it is the strategy on track, the management of tires. That added to the mistakes they are making in the Mercedes team, the little feedback from Hamilton with his car in the last race. That all gave Vettel the leading position in the drivers' championship. But we still have many races ahead, Mercedes can still wake up.
The team that hopes to be in the fight for the victory in the next races is Red Bull. The guys from Milton Keynes are expecting a great update for their car. They expect it to be so good as to allow them to fight with Ferrari and Mercedes. We remember that Max Verstappen won in Spain last year. His teammate Daniel Ricciardo is not happy with the choice of Pirelli tires for the Spanish Grand Prix. The driver fears that the hard tire will be too hard for the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
But if there are a pair of drivers who are suffering are those of the team Mclaren. Honda does not seem to find the solution to their engine problems. Spanish driver Fernando Alonso has failed to finish any of the races this season. The next appointment is in his native country and come with more doubts than certainties. Hopefully the problems will be solved soon and we can see the Mclaren team fighting on track.
