The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The last race of the 2017 Formula 1 season arrived. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the last stage of an era. This is the time to say goodbye to the cars without Halo, the Mclaren-Honda union, Felipe Massa and the old logo of this competition. Many changes that not everyone does agree with. The grid is divided between those who are in favor of the Halo and those who are against, but it is a reality. Felipe Massa after sixteen years in this sport says goodbye with a tenth place and a nice battle on track with Fernando Alonso. The Mclaren-Honda union was a great project, a good idea but with a sad end. I am sure that both have great successes, but now separately. Finally at the end of the awards ceremony Liberty has presented the new logo of Formula 1, a new logo for a new era. Although much of the fans seems to have not liked much this change.

But the best way to end a season is to win. This is what Valterri Bottas did. He took pole position on Saturday and Sunday held the lead, despite teammate Lewis Hamilton tried to snatch victory. Mercedes has many reasons to be happy, win the Constructors’ Championship, his driver Lewis Hamilton wins the world championship and finish the season a double on the podium. Another great season for the German team.

Ferrari yes but no. Vettel took third place on the podium in a season in which they could have won more if not for the mistakes they made in the second half of the season and left them out of the fight for the championship. It’s a shame to see a great team lose a world championship even before it’s over. On the contrary side, Red Bull that began the season very far away of Ferrari and Mercedes but throughout this it has been improving and approaching little by little. In addition to having two great drivers such as Daniel Ricciardo who had to abandon the race due to a hydraulic problem and Max Verstappen, a young promise that has shown his talent.
