19 ITOCHU ENEX TEAM IMPUL Yuhi Sekiguchi
On May 27th, Super Formula Round2 qualify race was held at Okayama international circuit. The sky was cloudy for qualifying, the air temperatures were around 22°C and track temperatures 32°C. Qualifying race was held under dry conditions.
In the free practice session, #7 Felix Rosenqvist recorded the fastest time (1'14.059). In the 2nd position was Tomoki Nojiri (1'14.140), 3rd position was Kamui Kobayashi (1'14.177). We expected their positions.
The promising racer Kazuki Nakajima was 15th (1’14’537).
When the signal changed from red to green at 10:30, the 19 machines took in from the pit load to qualifying race started for 20 minutes. The attack chance is limited to only 2 times because qualification is short time of 20 minutes. All machines were looking for clear lap while getting heat on the tires. 15minites after the start of qualifying, all machines completed first time attack. 17 of 19 machines reached 1’14 second, it means intense competition.
In the final time attack just before qualifying end, #7 Felix Rosenqvist notched the fastest time in the free practice session, and was the expect to take pole position but #7 spun around at double hair pin corner. As a result #7 qualified 14th.

#19 Yuhi Sekiguchi took the pole position at 1’13’387. #19 successfully found clear lap and succeeded in time attack. In the 2nd position was #36 Andre Lotterer (1’13’942), 3rd position was #3 Nick Cassidy (1’14’042). #18 Kamui Kobayashi was 7th position (1’14’258), # 37 Kazuki Nakajima was 11th (1’14’335)
