Gr-1 Super Taikyu Round 2 at Sugo
On April 30th, Super Taikyu had a 3 hours race at Sportsland Sugo Circuit, Miyagi pref. The race was held under sunny conditions.
In the ST-X class, #1 Three Bond Nissan Motor College GT-R and in the ST-TCR class, #97 Modulo CIVIC TCR won the race.
【ST-X:#1 […] came home to win 2nd consecutive】
All competitors in all classes started their battle, but it was in the ST-X class where we saw all the action.
#1 GT-R and #3 GT-R had an exciting fight for the lead, but it was #1 who came out on top with 3 second lead. Half race distance, #777 crashed in the last corner and the race was started behind the safety car again. Meanwhile contending teams #1 and #3 kept the pressure on throughout the race but positions never changed.
#8 Ferrari won pole position in the Saturday qualifying, but they could not take advantage of that opportunity, they got 3rd position.
【ST-TCR:CIVICs became winner of the 1st and 2nd races in succession】
After the start, there have been a lot movements #18 Audi Mie RS3 LMS passed #45 to move up in 1st spot. Coming to the middle stage of the race, #45 had a damage to the front fender and they had to pit. At 1 hour remaining in the session, #97 passed another car when Yellow flags were waved, they received a drive-through penalty. Just 15 minutes to finish the race, #19 slowed down unexpectedly and dropped positions. As a consequence, #97 Honda CIVIC became the winner and #98 Honda CIVIC took second place.
ST-3: In the ST-3 Class, #15 Z34 took the 1st and the race distance was 113 laps. Also #62 placed 2nd followed by car#34 in 3rd.
ST-2: #59 WRX STI received a drive-through penalty, but eventually made Pole to win in 2nd round.
ST-1: #31 Porsche […] performed well to finish 1st in 117 laps.
